Never eat anything you cannot identify with 100% certainty.

This is a guide, not a substitute for expert identification. Foraging guides - including this one - can contain errors. If you are not completely certain of an identification, do not eat it. Cross-check against at least two independent sources, and when in doubt, consult a local foraging expert or an experienced forager in person before eating anything wild.

Loggerheads Country Park follows the River Alyn through a wooded limestone valley in the Clwydian Range, with the dramatic limestone cliffs of Devil's Gorge. Managed by Denbighshire County Council around a restored 19th-century corn mill, its valley woodland is popular for walking and climbing as well as foraging.

Soil: limestone-influenced valley soils, alkaline-to-neutral

Dominant species: mixed broadleaf woodland along the River Alyn valley

Parking: Pay car park at the visitor centre
