Gwydir Forest covers more than 72 sq km within Snowdonia National Park near Betws-y-Coed, managed by Natural Resources Wales. Predominantly conifer plantation suited to the area's thin, poor soils, recent years have seen more native broadleaf planted for habitat diversity.

Soil: poor, shallow acidic upland soils

Dominant species: Sitka spruce, Douglas fir, Japanese larch, Norway spruce, Scots pine

Parking: Forest car parks around Betws-y-Coed and Llyn Geirionydd
