Bute Park

Cardiff · Urban park · landscaped parkland and arboretum, city centre

Public park - Cardiff Council
Never eat anything you cannot identify with 100% certainty.

This is a guide, not a substitute for expert identification. Foraging guides - including this one - can contain errors. If you are not completely certain of an identification, do not eat it. Cross-check against at least two independent sources, and when in doubt, consult a local foraging expert or an experienced forager in person before eating anything wild.

Bute Park is 130 acres of former Cardiff Castle grounds in the heart of the city, landscaped from the 1870s onward and gifted to public ownership in 1947. Its riverside trees and arboretum plantings give some foraging potential, though as a busy city-centre park, ground cover is heavily disturbed.

Soil: alluvial soils along the River Taff, neutral

Dominant species: mixed arboretum specimen trees plus riverside broadleaf

Parking: Pay car parks nearby in central Cardiff; the park itself is pedestrian
